The State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs announced the enterig into force from next April 2017 of the new regulation on working permit in China. The reform aims to achieve a simplier procedure for issuing the working permit, emphasysing the individual professional skills of the applicant.

The procedure will be completed upon the issue of an identification code and a working permit card. The latter may be of two typologies: the first one will be the working permit issued by the Minister of Social Security and Human Resources and the second one the foreign expert certificate, to be issued to all those who result to be the most talented on the basis of their working skills.

Workers applicants will be divided among three cathegories: category A, for the top talents; category B for the ones with best professional skills; and category C for the ones without specific skills.

At the moment no more details than the ones listed above have been disclosed; it is advisable therefore to start gaining skills in order to be well classified among such a new meritocratic system.
