Approved the Consolidated law of Grapevines and Wine

Testo Unico della Vite e del Vino was finally approved on November 28th 2016 by the Chamber’s Commission for Agriculture, and is yet to be published.

The primary goal was to combine all the provisions regarding the cultivation, production and trade of wine, by simplifying and making the sector less bureaucratic, as well as providing clearer information to the consumers.

The Testo Unico addresses diverse issues divided into eight chapters, amongst which are industry definitions, vineyard register, production of musts, wines and by products of winemaking, the production of wines with denomination of origin and geographical indications, production of vinegars, marketing and labelling, controls and sanctions system.

With all the regulations gathered under one law, the Testo Unico will contribute to simplify and strengthen one, if not the most important, Italian agricultural sector.
