The European Commission has approved incentives for renewable sources other than photovoltaic.

Finally, The European Commission  has approved the decree for renewble sources other than photovoltaic. For the entry into force, the pubblication on the Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana is needed.

This legislative measure, made by the Ministry of Economic Development in 2015,  provides incentives proportionate to the installations' size,  until the end of 2016, with the  purpouse  of increasing the ability to create energy from renewable sources (the aim is 1,300 megawatts).

Which are the incentivized renewable technologies?

The incentivized renewable technologies are: hydropower, wind, geothermal, biomass and biogas, sewage gas, sustainable bioliquids, landfill gas, ocean energy.

Please note that the incentives provided by the decree are not applicable to renewable energy derived from the photovoltaic, since solar energy was already  supported in the past.

Thanks to this decree, producers could be encouraged to invest in renewable energies, especially the small installations (less than 0,5 MW), which have the possibility to receive reduced rates.

For installations between 0,5 MW and 5 MW, incentive payments are differentiated depending on the technology, and for the implants bigger than 5 MW a specific public tender partecipation is needed.

The European Commission believes that this could be helpful for the enviroment, increasing the percentage of electricity produced from renewable sources, reducing pollution, in line with the EU goals.

To be eligible for incentives, the registration on the  GSE – Gesgtore Servizi Energetici is required .

Which are the problems related to the delay in the decree's approval?

Incentives are only valid until the end of 2016!

That's why this delay in the decree's approval may create uncertainty, driving away investors, reducing money investment.
